Five easy gin cocktail recipes brought to you by 4SIS4ERS

Built on a bedrock of hard graft, family values, and a penchant for fine gin, 4 SISTERS are on a craft spirits mission.

The four spirit-distilling sisters – alongside their seven brothers of SEVEN BRO7HERS BREWING COMPANY – comprise the largest family of direct siblings in the global alcohol industry.

And their liquid concoctions are divine.

So, we had to do it, the dream Salford collaboration: VonHaus x 4 SISTERS.

It’s happening.

We chatted to the four lovely ladies; getting the inside scoop on their favourite gin-based cocktails that you can make at home.

So, pull up a bar stool, grab some craft gin, and shake things up with five gin-based cocktails brought to you by our favourite gin queens, 4 SISTERS…

Five fab gin-based cocktails for summer

1. Do it with Passion

Our first 4 SISTERS gin recipe is a zesty and refreshing summer cooler.

This is sis4er number 4, Lucy’s favourite cocktail; she loves the sweet grapefruit, which pairs perfectly with 4 SISTERS Passion Fruit & Cardamom gin.

Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients

50ml Passion Fruit & Cardamon Gin

25ml fresh grapefruit Juice

15ml spiced agave syrup

Soda water

Grapefruit slice

Method

Start by creating the spiced agave syrup by adding 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg & cinnamon to 250ml agave syrup to an empty cocktail shaker. Mix well with a long bar spoon.

Add the gin, juice, and ice into your spiced agave syrup before attaching the top of the shaker. Shake well until you feel the shaker get cold.

Using the Hawthorne strainer, pour into a highball glass with ice cubes. Top up with soda and garnish with a slice of grapefruit to serve.

Want to really do it with passion? Grab a Manhattan cocktail set to shake it up like a pro.

2. The Manchester Garden

Our great city is known for its eclecticism (stroll in the NQ, anyone?), urban style, and leafy parks.

So, it’s little wonder sister number 2 created a cocktail to reflect our cultural heritage – bitter lemon and lime offset by savoury rosemary and thyme.

Some might say it’s a Manchester masterpiece.

Venture deep into the gin-infused Manchester Garden with the following ingredients and become a certified Shakermaker.

Because we do things differently here.

Ingredients

50ml Lime & Thyme Gin

10ml fresh lemon juice

10ml sugar syrup

Fevertree elderflower tonic

Method

Pour the Lime & Thyme gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and ice into your shaker.

Firmly attach the lid to create suction. Shake well until the shaker is cold.

Firmly tap the top of the shaker on one side (either is side is fine!) to release the suction.

Pour into a highball glass with ice cubes and garnish with a sprig of thyme.

We recommend our Boston cocktail shaker set for this gin recipe, as it makes short work of iced cocktails, where most falter.

3. It's Summer Thyme

A firm favourite with the whole 4 SISTERS team, they just love a good summer refresher.

But they're causing a stir with this one.

It’s Summer Thyme reinvents the mojito by swapping out the rum for; you guessed it – gin!

Here’s how to shake up a classic by making it a gin-based cocktail:

Ingredients

50ml Lime & Thyme Gin

10ml green chartreuse

30ml fresh lime juice

15ml sugar syrup

10-12 mint leaves

1 sprig of thyme

Method

Remove the thyme leaves and place them into the bottom of your cocktail shaker – we recommend a Parisian cocktail shaker set for this one – before popping in all the mint leaves apart from one (save this for the garnish!)

Add the sugar syrup and fresh lime juice and, using your muddler, gently press the mint leaves to release the oil from the leaves. Stop when you can smell a strong mint fragrance (this means it’s extracted) and remove the muddler.

Add the Lime & Thyme gin and green chartreuse and pop the lid on the cocktail shaker.

Next, shake it up! Then add ice cubes to a glass and place the fine strainer over it.

Carefully release the top of the shaker, before putting the Hawthorne strainer over the shaker base.

Pour over the fine strainer on your glass before garnishing with a mint leave to serve.

4. Espresso Martini

The 4 SISTERS have only gone and flipped the script again, bringing the martini back to its true oriGIN: a gin-based cocktail.

Gone are the days of vodka-based ‘martinis’; this one’s the real deal. And despite the caffeine kick, sister number 3 Katie swears by it as a nightcap.

For such a sophisticated number, we recommend our mango wood and graphite cocktail shaker set to shake, serve – and impress.

Ingredients

50ml Caramel Espresso Gin

15ml Kahlua

A shot of fresh espresso coffee

Method

Pop all your ingredients into a shaker with a handful of ice. Shake well and strain using a Hawthorne strainer into a coupe glass.

Finish your creamy gin cocktail with a garnish of coffee beans.

If you’re making these tantalising gin cocktails for friends, make sure you’ve got an ice bucket on hand to keep them ice cold.

5. Summer's Kiss

Sister number 1’s go-to summer tipple, the Summer Kiss might change the way we drink gin altogether.

Hyperbole?

Maybe.

But the inclusion of egg whites is a stroke of genius.

Blended with 4 SISTERS strawberry gin, it’s your long-lost lover in a glass.

Dare to try?

Ingredients

50ml Strawberry Gin

20ml Fresh Lemon Juice

1 Whole Egg White or Alternative

15ml Sugar Syrup

Method

Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker without ice.

Shake well until frothy.

Once frothed, add a handful of ice, and shake again until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels cold – oh, you’ll know.

Use a fine strainer to pour and serve in your most elegant glass.
