If you’ve never tried cooking with a cast iron meat press, you’re in for a treat! This traditional press is designed to help cook tastier cuts of meat and reduce the cooking time by maximising contact with your pan or griddle.
Simply place the steak, burger or bacon in the pan and rest the meat press on the top. The press will push the meat down on to the hot surface, flattening the edges and making the most of every centimetre of space. Perfect for really crispy bacon and for sealing the edges of panini or toasted sandwiches.
Using the press reduces the overall cooking time as the meat comes into contact with a larger surface area during the cooking process.
The VonShef press comes pre-seasoned, which means that vegetable oil is baked on to the surface at a high temperature, creating a naturally non-stick surface, without the need for a chemical coating. The heat treatment allows the oil to penetrate into the pores of the iron to give it easy-release properties without the health worries associated with some chemicals. You can easily maintain the surface by rubbing in a little fresh oil after washing.
