3 Decadent Popcorn Recipes For Your Movie Night

What better way to spend a cosy night in than curled up under a blanket watching your favourite film? And, obviously, the ultimate accompaniment to that has to be some fresh popcorn. You deserve better than pre-made shop-bought popcorn or microwave bags that you can never quite get right, you deserve freshly popped cinema-quality popcorn to snack on during your favourite film. Level up your movie night treats with these popcorn machine recipes for decadent popcorn.

Nacho Cheese Popcorn

For salted popcorn fans, try out this recipe for a popcorn and nacho hybrid. Perfect for a savory snack, enjoy this nacho popcorn with a range of dips and a movie of your choice.

You'll Need (serves 4) :

  • 100g popcorn kernels
  • 160g Nacho Crisps
  • 100g Melted Butter
  • 50g Grated Cheese
  • Dips to serve

Instructions

  1. Use your popcorn machine to easily pop the kernels.
  2. While they’re popping, use a food processer to crush up your nacho crisps into crumbs, or mash them up with a rolling pin.
  3. When the popcorn is fresh and hot, mix in the melted butter. If you prefer yours spicy, you could also add in some chili or paprika at this point.
  4. Stir in the nacho crumbs and stir so the popcorn is coated.
  5. Once that’s done, pour the popcorn out onto a baking tray and sprinkle the grated cheese over the top.
  6. Pop it into the oven at 180C until all the cheese has melted.
  7. Serve with dips of your choice, we love it with guacamole, and enjoy!

Nutella and Peanut Butter Popcorn

If you’ve got more of a sweet tooth, try this tasty Nutella and peanut butter popcorn. Satisfying that chocolate craving, this is perfect for fans of Reece’s.

You'll Need (Serves 4) :

  • 100g Popcorn kernels
  • 190g Light brown sugar
  • 200g Butter
  • 280g Nutella
  • 140g Peanut butter
  • 1tsp Vanilla extract
  • Extra Nutella or chocolate sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn in your popcorn maker.
  2. Meanwhile, put the Nutella, butter, peanut butter, and sugar into a pan together. Heat and stir continuously until the sugar is all dissolved and the ingredients are all combined.
  3. Take the mixture off the heat and add in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the Nutella mixture with the popcorn and stir till it’s all coated.
  5. You can then either serve straight away for popcorn with a gooey Nutella and peanut butter sauce, or bake in the oven for 10 minutes for a drier coating. Drizzle with chocolate sauce for extra decadence and enjoy!

Marshmallow Popcorn

Like a childhood favourite rice crispy bar, but with a movie night twist. This marshmallow popcorn is delicious on its own, or you can even shape it into bars to cool and enjoy later.

You'll Need (serves 4) :

  • 100g Popcorn kernels
  • 100g Mini marshmallows
  • 100g butter
  • Any extra toppings you want, maybe some chocolate chips

Instructions :

  1. Pop your popcorn in your machine for cinema quality.
  2. While that’s popping away, place your marshmallows and butter into a microwave safe bowl and heat, taking it out regularly to stir and careful to not burn it. For a little salty and sweet flavour combination, we like using salted butter.
  3. Once the popcorn is done, mix in the marshmallow mixture until it’s all coated and gooey.
  4. Then their simple sprinkle with your toppings of choice, or put the mixture into a tray and let it cool to form easy snack bars.
