How To Make Costa Coffee French Toast

It’s UK Coffee Week and we’ve got something special for you courtesy of our friends at Costa Coffee Level up your weekend (or weekday, we're not judging) and make Coffee French Toast, the ultimate brunch meal. Complete the meal with your ideal hot drink - perfect!

Ingredients

Coffee Cream:

Let the preparations commence: 

 

1. Make the coffee cream. This one's quick and easy. Combine the icing sugar, double cream and coffee together in a mixing bowl 

2. Then, use an electric whisk (like this one) on medium-high speed until the mix thickens.    

3. Place covered in your fridge to keep fresh. 

 

Now for the delicious frying mix: 

 

4. Whisk your eggs in a mixing bowl and then add in the coffee, brown sugar and milk. Make sure to mix these well.  

5. Pour the mixture into a big shallow dish and place the bread slices to absorb the liquid. 

 

Frying Time  

 

6. Heat a sizeable frying pan to a medium heat. Add half of the butter and when melted add two slices of bread.  

7. Cook this for two minutes on both sides until the bread reaches a nice level of golden crispiness - now remove and keep warm in an oven until serving. 

8. Repeat this with the remaining slices, using the rest of the butter when needed. 

9. Brunch is served! Stack two freshly made slices on each plate, top with a hearty dollop of cold coffee cream and finish with a cocoa powder from a chocolate duster.  Mmm…
